Another Revolutionary War general named Stephen Moore had a love for the county, proclaiming it a “Lost Eden”, vowing to return one day and make it his home. He kept his promise, as he built his home on what is now called Mount Tirzah in 1793. His home still exists to this day and belongs to his descendants. Long family played an important role in the town’s development, investing in the city’s railroad and banking industries in the late 1800s.
