Asheboro sits at the center of North Carolina, located in the gently rolling Piedmont to the east of the Appalachian Mountains.
Residents have easy access to the state’s major urban centers, with U.S. Route 220 and Interstate 73/74 connecting to Greensboro, U.S. Route 64 connecting to Raleigh, and N.C. 49 connecting residents to Charlotte. Asheboro is roughly 70 miles from either Raleigh or Charlotte and is served by three airports, each about an hour’s drive away. Many home styles are available, as are restaurants, hotels, golf courses and other amenities.
The town lies within the Uwharrie Mountains, providing numerous opportunities for hiking and is minutes from Seagrove, the pottery capital of the state. The Pisgah Covered Bridge is one of two remaining covered bridges in North Carolina and offers a great spot for photography, picnics and nature walks.
Asheboro is home to the internationally acclaimed North Carolina Zoo, a natural habitat park with 1,100 North American and African animals, a collection of public art and five miles of walking trails. Race fans will enjoy the Caraway Speedway, a NASCAR-sanctioned track that features weekly racing events, and they can view one of the largest private collections of Harley-Davidson® motorcycles in the country at the American Classic Motorcycle Museum.
