Summer is the perfect time to take a break from the heat and tackle a few DIY projects to improve your space.

While we recently covered the most expensive home improvement projects, these do-it-yourself jobs are on the opposite end of affordability.

If you’ve got $100 and some time, here are six inexpensive home decor projects you’ll love doing.

Cover a popcorn ceiling with tongue and groove

Coming in at slightly more than $100, but still very inexpensive, this DIY project covers up a dated textured ceiling while adding loads of character and charm. Paint it the same color as your trim or stain it a warm brown or gray for a more weathered look.

Even if you don’t have popcorn ceilings you need to cover up, adding tongue and groove to the ceiling is a great way to give a room more personality.

Install a feature wall

Completely transform a room in your home when you add some interesting trim work. Here, board and batten is combined with some peel and stick wallpaper to make the cutest little nursery!

Stencil your powder room

Don’t have the patience for wallpaper? Try a stencil instead! Mix things up in a plain, builder-grade bathroom when you add a fun stencil. You can even mix it with some unique trim work for a truly custom look.

Paint your front door

One of the easiest ways to transform your curb appeal is to paint your front door. Whether you decide to go bright or opt for a more muted tone, you can’t go wrong with a coat of paint.

While you’re at it, move indoors and paint some of your interior doors for an inexpensive makeover. We’re loving all of the black interior doors and windows we’ve spotted lately.

Use peel and stick wall paper to make an accent wall

Wallpaper is back and for those of you who have nightmares about the wallpaper mess of the 80s, don’t worry, it’s much easier to apply these days.

Probably one of the best things about peel and stick wallpaper is in its name, it’s peel and stick– when you’re ready for a change, simply peel it off and try something new!

Add outdoor solar lights

Add some inexpensive solar lights to line a pathway, driveway or even in the garden. You’ll be amazed at what a difference it makes. The lights shown below are very affordable and can be purchased on amazon!
