Allen Tate Companies President and CEO Pat Riley has been honored by RISMedia, the leading information and news provider for the residential real estate industry, as a 2020 Real Estate Newsmaker.

RISMedia’s 2020 Real Estate Newsmakers include 300 industry leaders making headlines as a result of their newsworthy contributions to the real estate industry, and their efforts to positively affect the consumers and communities they serve.

Riley, who joined Allen Tate in 1992, was honored in the Luminaries category, which recognizes iconic leaders.

“I am driven by passion for the independent broker and the local brand with international connections; that is the best of both worlds,” Riley said.

The leader of the Carolinas’ No. 1 real estate firm, based on closed sales transactions, was lauded for overseeing the acquisitions of more than 30 family-owned real estate companies during his tenure. Riley was one of 10 founding members of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, served as chairman of the organization from 2015-2017 and holds a permanent seat on the board of directors.

In the wake of the recession, Riley urged other independent companies to pursue a joint venture instead of “selling out” to Wall Street. In 2018, Allen Tate and Howard Hanna Real Estate Services joined forces to form the No. 1 privately owned residential real estate company in the U.S. Since then, Allen Tate has acquired two independent real estate companies, Blowing Rock Investment Properties in Blowing Rock, N.C. and Realty One in Winston-Salem, N.C.

“Remaining fiercely independent is so personally important to me,” Riley said.

Allen Tate Companies currently operates 47 local real estate offices in the Charlotte, Triad, Triangle and High Country regions of North Carolina and the Upstate of South Carolina.
