I grew up in the cornfields of Illinois with two little sisters and a little brother. I was obsessed with sports, and that desire for bettering myself and competition remains a part of me. I moved to North Carolina with my family in 2005 and I attended NC State. I earned a math degree, and then I embarked on 4 years of teaching and coaching football. My wife and I moved to the Charlotte area in 2012 after she got her PhD and accepted a position as a math professor at Wingate University. I had always wanted to further my own education, so I attended UNC Charlotte and earned a mathematics degree in Actuarial Science. During that time, we had our first child Elloise. Of equal importance, I found the sport of disc golf. I had missed the competition, personal growth, being outdoors, and exercise that I got in football. After I graduated I got a job as an actuarial consultant, so we had to move to Atlanta. We both missed Charlotte and our families, and working in the corporate spreadsheet world wasn't as fulfilling as helping people as an educator and coach, so we decided to come back home and I would find a new path. As we went through the process of buying our own home, I realized how much I loved the whole process. We love the Charlotte community, the disc golf community, and our network of friends and family, so real estate seemed like the perfect combination of my skillsets from my previous experience. Once I realized that being a trusted real estate advisor is not a sales or transactional job, but rather it is about relationships and helping people, I was totally on board. After spending a year learning about the real estate industry and the Charlotte real estate market, I am so excited to become a part of the Allen Tate Family.
