Phyllis Brookshire is the Senior Vice President for the Allen Tate Company. She joined the Allen Tate Family of Companies as regional vice president in January 2007 as the company expanded into the Triangle. She shares the passion and vision of the Allen Tate Company to raise the bar in residential real estate services for consumers.
A native of Raleigh, Phyllis is proud to share and follow in the footsteps of her father, J. Willie York, whose decades-long construction and development career, outstanding community service and philanthropy helped shape Raleigh into the thriving metropolis it is today.
She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar, and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. Phyllis helped establish the residential real estate division for her family's company, York Properties, serving as vice president, and later chief operating officer of the company until 2006.
Phyllis is an active civic leader in Raleigh. She serves on the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; a director of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®; a director of the Realtor® Foundation of the Triangle; Dean of the Triangle Realtors® Leadership Academy; and second vice president for the American Saddlebred Museum in Lexington, Kentucky. Phyllis also supports many other community organizations, including the Triangle United Way, Visual Art Exchange, Poe Center for Health Education, and the Wake Education Partnership.
She is a past president of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®, which has more than 6,000 members, and is a past chairman of the Board of Advisors of the JC Raulston Arboretum at North Carolina State University.
Along with real estate, Phyllis has also pursued her other passion, the training and showing of American Saddlebred horses with her husband, Don. Phyllis is a multi-titled World Champion equestrienne, developing horses that both she and her clients have shown. She continues to compete on the national and world levels with her horses. Phyllis and Don reside in Raleigh.
