Welcome to Allen Tate Realtors!

Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters. Albert Einstein

I have often told my kids, now both adults, that integrity is the one thing you can give away and is very difficult to get back. As a husband for more than 30 years, a father, and a manager with 20+ years’ experience in the software industry, I try my hardest to live out that very principal. It is the foundation of any relationship, particularly when it involves what will be the largest financial decision most people will make.

Having lived in the Triangle since 1985, I have watched this area grow from a sleepy, somewhat traditional southern community into the vibrant global area it is today. In my previous career, I traveled extensively and I know there are few areas in the US that have as much to offer as the Triangle. The Triangle is known on an international basis for the quality of education, living, employment, innovation, and diversity. Knowing the area, its history, and future plans is key in helping you find the place that you can call home.

No doubt experience counts and I’d say I have been in the real estate business for several years, both as a home owner and as an investor of both commercial and residential property. Also, when you have worked with many people over several years you learn the most important attribute you can have, second to trust, is the ability to listen. Understanding both your wants and needs are key to helping you find the place you can look forward to coming home to.

Obviously, if you are looking for a new home there is some sort of change occurring in your life, and change is an area I thrive. Change can be very disruptive and stressful, but working with someone that has years of experience leading people through change can smooth out those disruptions and help make the stress more manageable. In addition, I’m not helping you on my own. Allen Tate has a team of people supporting us - from finding the right home, to securing financing, to getting the right level of insurance coverage, to home services.

On a personal note, I am married with two children - a son that graduated from Appalachian State University and a daughter that graduated from UNC. I’d say our whole family are “foodies”. I love snow skiing, reading, and gardening. I started my career off with 4 years in the US Army, have a CompSci degree, and spent 30 years in the software industry. My plan was to retire after 30 years and do something totally different, and I’d say in many ways real estate is totally different from software development. But the one way it is very similar, particularly as a manager, is in helping others, which is the one thing I really love to do.

Give me a call, and let me know how I can help you find the perfect home!
