May McMillan Bensen is a seasoned real estate broker with a decade of success in assisting buyers and sellers in the Triangle. A Raleigh native, May's career has included over 25 years of experience in direct sales, marketing and public relations. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she spent several years in New York City working in public relations, and later served as Vice President of the Triangle office of Ruder-Finn. Her career also includes a four-year term as the residence and social director of the North Carolina Executive Mansion.
May is very active in the Raleigh community as a volunteer. She has chaired fund-raising events and held numerous leadership positions for Triangle nonprofit organizations, including Arts Together, Wake Education Partnership, Food Bank of North Carolina, JC Raulston Arboretum, Yates Mill Associates, and many more. She is a member of the Raleigh Fine Arts Society and serves on the board of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.
Her knowledge of Raleigh is comprehensive, and her wide network of community associations and contacts serves her clients well in connecting them with just the right offering, neighborhood, and situation.

May grew up in Raleigh's Cameron Park neighborhood in the house where her father still resides. She and her husband restored a home in Cameron Park to historic preservation standards. She is married to Mark Bensen. They have two children, ages nine and 13.
