Month-long event helps future buyers gain market knowledge, make wish list

In the years before the internet, home buyers narrowed their choices by visiting properties suggested by their Realtor that met their criteria.

Today, most home buyers search for homes online, where high-quality photos and virtual tours showcase available properties and details. But very few buyers purchase their largest investment without going old school: visiting homes in person.

Every weekend in November, Allen Tate Realtors® is hosting an Open House Festival throughout the company’s footprint in North and South Carolina. Homes listed for sale will be open in all markets.

“Open House Festival is an opportunity for future home buyers to learn about the housing market and explore different types of properties and neighborhoods,” said Pat Riley, president and CEO, Allen Tate Companies.

Open houses are appealing to those who have not formally begun their home search or connected with a Realtor, said Riley. They are a no-pressure opportunity to ask questions, understand the process and do some research.

“Until you actually visit some properties, it’s hard to envision square footage or how different floor plans can impact your living space. There are so many different options at different price points,” said Riley.

Visitors to an open house might also cross paths with potential neighbors.

“Neighbors are one of the best referral sources when a property is listed for sale. They love being part of the process and enjoy sharing what makes their community special. After all, they are helping to find a new neighbor,” said Riley.

Open House Festival will be held November 9-10, 16-17, 23-24 and November 30-December 1 in the Charlotte, Triad, Triangle and Upstate SC regions. Find open houses in your area here.

“At Allen Tate, we are home. And in November, we are open houses,” said Riley.
